What You Will Do

The Onboarding Accountant is responsible for migrating new clients from their old, outdated, and messy accounting and payroll systems into their new, shiny systems (Xero and Gusto). Crafting seamless workflows for accounting and payroll, freeing clients to focus on their passions and soar to new heights of success. In this role you will work with clients in all stages of business, from start-ups who want to get their accounting life set up correctly from the beginning to established businesses that need their accounting history reviewed and revamped. Your objective is to create efficient workflows surrounding the full-cycle accounting and payroll process so that the clients can get back to doing what they love and excel at!

Responsibilities:

Work with clients to understand their current systems and processes, discover problems they are trying to solve and offer solutions that will increase their operational efficiency and profitability.
Migrate accounting and payroll clients from existing systems (e.g. Quickbooks Desktop & Online, Wave, Bench, ADP, Intuit Payroll) into Xero and Gusto. Perform a fresh setup if no prior system is used
Review all financial data within contract scope - make thoughtful suggestions for all list and settings changes, including a chart of accounts, customer lists, vendor lists, and reconciliation rules
Perform deep cleaning of accounting data - reconcile all bank accounts, Balance Sheet accounts, Income Statement accounts, etc.
Analyze current accounting processes and identify areas for improvement
Document current and future state processes using flowcharts, diagrams, or standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Integrate third-party software (eg: Shopify, Stripe, Invoiced.com, Gusto, etc.) with Xero. Set up mapping and ensure syncs are working correctly
Research new software use-cases and best practices to provide support internally and to clients
Create and document processes using applications such as Loom, Scribe, Miro, and Notion
Setup of payroll or migration of payroll to Gusto, to include: onboard employees and contractors, complete eVerify for new employees, set up pay schedules, and add company documents to payroll software
Review current accounts receivable process, can include migration into Xero Invoice module or other third party software
Review current accounts payable process, which can include setup of Ramp, Bill.com, or other software
Review current expense reimbursement process, which may include migration into Xero Expenses, Ramp, or other
Create and foster relationships with new clients and provide weekly communication regarding project progress
Train clients on Xero, Gusto, and any related processes created during onboarding
Once onboarding projects are complete, provide an initial training call and ad-hoc support to ongoing accountants (CAMs)

Benefits

Salary range is $75,000 - $85,000, final salary is determined based on experience.
