Controller

Financial Accounting & Compliance:

• Oversee the full general ledger, monthly and annual close, and financial reporting process. Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP standard. Create, monitor, and/or maintain internal policies and procedures to ensure that U.S, GAAP standard is being followed at all times.
• Maintain and continuously-improve internal control frameworks, ensure the integrity of accounting systems, as well as data integrity.
• Lead annual financial audit preparation and coordination with external auditors; ensure all reconciliations and documentation meet audit and U.S. GAAP compliance standards.
• Manage journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations across divisions to ensure data integrity and accuracy.

Manufacturing Cost Accounting & Inventory Control:

• Own all aspects of standard cost development (materials, labor, overhead), ensuring BOM and routing accuracy through close collaboration with Operations.
• Analyze cost variances (PPV, labor efficiency, yield, absorption) and partner with manufacturing leaders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Lead inventory valuation, control, and audit processes, including cycle counts, physical count, obsolescence reserves, and ERP-to-GL reconciliation.
• Provide financial insights on production efficiency, scrap, yield, and throughput, quantifying the impact of operational improvements.

Financial Systems, Controls & Process Improvement:

• Serve as the owner of ERP accounting configuration, including chart of accounts, cost centers, item costing, and approval workflows.
• Design, test, and monitor internal controls across purchasing, payables, payroll, and inventory processes to safeguard assets.
• Partner with IT and Operations to drive automation, data accuracy, and process efficiency throughout financial and manufacturing systems.
• Work closely with IT to ensure disaster recovery process is put in place, and test its effectiveness from time-to-time to ensure data is recoverable in times of disasters.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Deliver timely, accurate, and meaningful monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to leadership.
• Prepare detailed variance analyses, margin reconciliations, and cost-per-unit reporting to support business decisions.
• Coach and mentor the FP&A Manager to ensure seamless integration of historical data into budgets, forecasts, and strategic models.
• Develop dashboards and KPIs tracking COGS, inventory turns, yield, and production costs, providing actionable insights to leadership.

Leadership & Collaboration:

• Lead, coach, and develop the Accounting and Finance team to foster financial excellence, integrity, and accountability.
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality and various departments to ensure financial and operational alignment.
• Coach and develop the FP&A Manager to support the CEO in delivering comprehensive financial stewardship—balancing accuracy (Controller) with foresight (FP&A Manager).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required. MBA preferred.
• CPA, CMA, or other finance-related certification a plus.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years as Controller in the manufacturing industry.
• Experience in consolidation (and elimination) of multi legal entities financial reporting.
• Proven team building experience leading a team of more than 5.
• Proven success implementing standard costing, inventory control, and internal accounting systems.
• Experience managing financial audits, ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or Dynamics), and cross-functional financial processes. Create or revise SOPs as needed, and work cross functionally in implementation of SOPs.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, cost accounting, and operational finance within a regulated manufacturing setting.
