About Orwashers

Orwashers Bakery (Orwashers.com) is a New York City institution, founded in 1916 in a small storefront on the Upper East Side. Today, Orwashers continues to be known for its New York classics including rye bread, pumpernickel, bagels, rugelach, black and white cookies and so much more.

In addition to selling bread to many of New York's top restaurants and gourmet grocery stores, Orwashers currently operates three retail bakeries in Manhattan and Long Island. We also deliver our breads and baked goods throughout Manhattan and distribute to carefully selected partners nationwide. While the company has grown since its humble beginnings over a century ago, the same values remain baked in: handmade classic breads and baked goods made fresh, locally, and with love each day.

What You Will Do

This is a newly created role reporting directly to the CFO/COO, built to drive the next phase of Orwashers' retail and foodservice growth. The Director of Sales will play a critical leadership role in driving sustainable growth and expanding market presence. You'll own the full sales function: setting strategy, managing key accounts, and partnering closely with operations, production, and marketing to bring it to life. This role requires someone who is comfortable both developing the sales strategy and working closely with buyers.

Who You Are

You know the in-store bakery category, and you bring both the strategic thinking and the hustle to move a premium artisan product through competitive channels. You're self-sufficient, solutions-oriented, and energized by a fast-moving environment where you can make your mark. You know how to build relationships with buyers at Whole Foods as confidently as with independent restaurant operators, and you don't need a lot of structure to get things done.

Benefits

  • Base salary: $150,000-$160,000
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Health insurance (company covers 70% for employee)
  • Long-term and short-term disability
  • 401(k) with 4% company match (eligible after one year)
  • 9 paid holidays plus 2 weeks PTO
